Jungle Safari Mini Golf – Myrtle Beach, SC

Played on October 4, 2021, with Pat Sheridan of The Putting Penguin and family

It took a minute to finally get this course a proper review. My initial visit to the course was back in 2019 on my first trip to Myrtle Beach. I didn’t have the time to play the course, so when I revisited Myrtle Beach in 2021 to play in the Masters, I wanted to check the course of my list of ones played. Fortunately, my friend and Puttcast co-host Pat Sheridan was keen to play the course as well. We all had an opening a few days before the Masters started on a Monday evening. Pat’s kids helped me score well against him as they ran and knocked his ball away from the cup every chance they got. Well done, Malcolm and Rae!

Rating

This is one of so many above-average courses in Myrtle Beach. The course had some vandalism in 2020, which you can see in the photos from my return visit. Otherwise, the course played as expected, similar to many other courses around Myrtle Beach. The massive greens, theming, and environment were all high quality. I like the layout of the similarly themed Jungle Lagoon a little bit more, but if you’re in Myrtle and have the time, give this course a whirl. In most other cities, it would be the best course in town.

Looking good in the evening off King’s Highway
Poor guy!
Additional signs of the 2020 vandalism
Nothing like a little Monday night mini golf
One of many massive greens

Comments

Classic Myrtle Beach oversized greens with classic red bricks
Lots of life-sized safari animals (not real
Similar to many other courses across Myrtle Beach
Solid layout and gameplay

The first course stop on my inaugural visit to the mini golf buffet that is Myrtle Beach was Jungle Safari. I arrived in town late the previous night and took my time starting off day 1 solo. Most of my mini golf pals were playing in the 2019 USMGPA Masters around town so I figured I’d scope out all the spots in the city with the highest density of miniature golf in the world. I drove less than 5 minutes from where I was lodging and bumped into Jungle Safari. The theme was obviously appealing, too, given The Pink Putter and I went to the Serengeti for our honeymoon. I didn’t have time to play a round but documented the course for a future visit. The turf is in great shape and I always appreciate some oversized animals accompanying to tie a theme together. Sadly, in January 2020 this course was vandalized but I’m hoping they’re able to bring these fun characters back to life soon.
