A little while back, we heard from Stingers via our pal Tim Ochnikowski of Access Mini Golf . They were interested in hosting an annual tournament and wanted it to be part of a future season of the American Mini Golf Alliance (AMA), a group where I’m one of the main organizers. I spoke with the course owner, Theran, and he told me about the work they had done on the course, along with their desire to get connected with the competitive mini golf world. In August 2025, they ran their first tournament with a modest turnout and great feedback from competitive players that gave us confidence they would be a welcome addition to the AMA. During my travel to play the Illinois Open and The Red Putter, I had a day off where I could sneak in a visit to the course. Just my luck, it was a rainy day, and there was a massive downpour on my drive to the course. It settled down for a little bit, and I was able to play a very fast round and shoot this video walkthrough before the rain really came down. I didn’t want to drive in the rain, and fortunately, they have a large indoor clubhouse with a bar that has food options, so I indulged in a large soft pretzel before heading out.

Stingers is a challenging 18-hole course (with a bonus indoor 19th hole) a little over 30 minutes north of Milwaukee. This is a Harris-built course with alternating red, green, and blue turfed holes with metal-rimmed cups and ample space between the bricks, similar to Ball Fore. A few of the holes have multiple cup placements that can be covered up to offer a variety of gameplay. The big difference between this and a lot of the other Harris-built courses is that the holes are really long. Most Harris courses can be scored in the 30s by seasoned putters, but the course record on this behemoth is in the 40s. During the 2025 tournament, the top round was 45. I expect that as experienced pros play the course, they could get into the upper 30s. The path of the course takes you on a nice journey up and around the well-landscaped and laid-out terrain. There are a few holes where the large surrounding water features can become a hazard, but they are relatively easy to navigate around. There are a few trees and shaded areas in the middle of the course that offer some relief from the sun on a very hot day as well. The indoor 19th hole is a steep uphill ramp with cups at the top that are changed out regularly. You get 3 attempts to make this challenge shot and win a free game. The clubhouse featured a leaderboard of all players who have shot under par to encourage people to consider playing the tournament. The bar, indoor and outdoor driving bays, golden tee game, and spacious area to hang out make this a great spot to hang out after a round. If you’re looking for a solid challenge, this is well worth your effort to check out.
