The Ocean City Boardwalk is a little over 2 miles long, but it has a ridiculous amount of mini golf facilities. Congo Falls has 3 courses, making it the largest mini golf facility on the Boardwalk and, I believe, the largest facility across all of the Jersey Shore! I met up with a crew of East Coast putting pals the night before the 2022 O-Street Open during the first time this annual tournament was part of the American Mini Golf Alliance (AMA) circuit. Due to other summer overseas adventures over the last few years, I haven’t been back to the Shore, but looking back at these photos, I’m eager to return to play the rest of Congo Falls and the other courses I haven’t had the chance to play.
Rating

I have fond memories of playing this course with Mandy, Pat, Aaron, and Moira. I believe Moira’s first job was working at this course. The Lost City course is well-themed and immerses you in an Indiana Jones-like world, which includes holes in the wall with air coming out, mimicking Raiders of the Lost Ark. The layout of the course includes straightforward green turf and red bricks, but several holes incorporate the theme into the design and gameplay. While the gameplay is fairly standard, the environment ups the ante for the overall experience. The exterior of the course was big, loud, and exciting, which really drew us into the course to play. The 18 holes and the whole facility don’t take up a ton of physical space on the jam-packed boardwalk, but you do get the feeling of escape from the Shore while playing. It took me a while to review, and some of my memories of the course have slightly faded, but I remember this being a particularly fun course and evening, which is why I thought it was an above-average course and gave it a rating of Birdie.
