Bowling BRNO Adam Course – Brno, Czech Republic

Reviewed by Mr. Tee

Played June 5 – 16, 2024

Playing for Team USA at the World Adventure Golf Masters (WAGM) was something I had been eager to do since I got into competitive mini golf in 2020. It felt like something I would attempt well into the future, and then I got a glimpse of the Adam course at Bowling BRNO. Andrew Edmonds had mentioned this course to me sometime in 2023, and it immediately shot to the top of my bucket list. From afar, it looked like something out of Alice in Wonderland or Minecraft. The bright yellow turfed obstacles just pulled me in. Funny enough, though, WAGM was scheduled to be played on the other two courses at Bowling BRNO in 2024, so when I made the team for WAGM, I knew I would get to play the Adam course for fun. After a particularly rainy practice day before the tournament, I went over to play a round with world champion Patrick Riiener from Austria and my roommate on the trip, top-class US Putter, Jeremy Inabinet. After our tournament rounds were complete, I went back out on the course again to give it another shot with fellow Team USA members and players from across the globe. Feels fitting to be reviewing this course on a day when top players are competing on this course in the Moravian Adventure Golf Masters.

Rating

I absolutely adore this course. It’s such a great combination of unique gameplay and immersive environments. The yellow turf is used to cover obstacles, and white turf is used for the depressions/hazards. This combination is aesthetically pleasing and helps you navigate the challenging terrain. The lower parts of the walls are cement, which allow for playing rebounds to get the ball to the hole on these long holes/lanes. A good result on these courses is in the mid-30s, and there are lots of ways to get in trouble where you get stuck behind an obstacle or deep down in a hazard. This course must be the most popular with the public at the facility because it feels equally luxurious and playful. Some of the large yellow-turfed obstacles are the size of a living room couch. All three courses at Bowling BRNO have some difficult tee positions for right-handed players. I was told that the Czech players grow up learning how to play hockey left-handed, and this naturally translates to them putting the same way. You can see some examples of this with Patrick’s setup on the first hole. This is the only small criticism of this course. Bowling BRNO is one of the best mini golf facilities in the world, and Adam is by far the most fun of the 3 courses. Truly a special course worth going out of your way to play. Make sure to watch the video at the end with the course owner, Vlastimil Chládek. Bravo!

From my first visit to the course with Patrick Riiener and Jeremy Inabinet
Finding a good tee position for right-handed players can be challenging, and you find that out immediately at hole #1
Back half of the first hole
Narrow opening to get to the cup down the middle. Hit it too hard, and you’re below the cup in the white turfed hazard
You can see a straight putt will get you an ace but…
Getting out of these hazards is complicated
Gotta smash the ball off the middle yellow obstacle to get it to bounce up the hill and to the cup on #3
Navigate between these yellow obstacles down to the cupand avoid the hazard to the left of them in this photo
Narrow opening under the yellow block in the center of this lane
Nicely designed shaded area to rest in the middle of the course
Those yellow obstacles are massive and look like couches to me
Local club member Jiri posing in front of this wonderful course
Another lane where you have to smash the ball for a possible ace
You can also just lay up a few feet past the tee box for an 8-foot putt for 2
Patrick showing flexibility in trying to get out of that corner
Narrow lane to the cup near the back of the hole
Thrilled when I aced it on my first attempt!
One of many holes where you can play a few different paths to the cup
Jeremy taking the long way around
The cup is in the upper right corner to the right of Jeremy. Path to the cup requires navigating a tight line past some hazards
Easy to miss the yellow obstacle from the top of this lane and then you’re likely playing for a 3
One of many lanes where you navigate down steps on the lane from the tee box to the cup
Talk about tight lines with those hazards
and if you hit the ball too hard, you can have a long putt back up hill to the cup
Easy to get in trouble on this hole
Just love the shape and scale of this one
Hard to get all the way around on the first putt but at least the area near the cup if forgiving
Team Great Britain trying to figure out the angles on this one
Treacherous downhill putt to the cup
Slovakian playing the course after the tourney as well
Great Britain players navigating through the hazard on #16
Steep uphill and narrow channel away from the hazards on #17
Another long path to the cup to finish off the course

Nerdy Notes

  • Opened in 2020 and was the 2nd 18-hole course on the facility
  • A good competitive score is close to par (36)
  • Regularly hosts competitive events
  • Received an update in 2026 that they added some granite plates to the base of some of the walls to improve gameplay on the cement bases of the walls
  • Two different scorecards available to score
  • Not easy to access this course up the hill from the clubhouse. Not sure if any of the course is accessible via wheelchair
