Defunct: RoadRunners Bar Mini Golf – Dripping Springs, TX

Played April 21, 2023

Nearly a year ago, I was deep in the heart of Texas with putting pals taking on every mini golf course we could imagine playing. During an early trip to the Dripping Springs area in 2021, I noted a YMCA campground area that had an adjacent mini golf course. I knew I would be coming back to the area at least one more time and had it on my list to check out. After doing more research, the course was actually not connected with the YMCA camp but instead, it was an independently run outdoor bar and entertainment facility.

Rating

I really like the vibe of this place when we visited. The facility was charming with string lights in the trees, good tunes over the speakers, drinks, and a variety of activities including mini golf. We all had binged on mini golf the previous 2 days so the laid-back vibe was the right speed for us. The course itself was fairly straightforward with jagged concrete walls and green turf but the cup placement and design of some of the holes were really interesting. There was a specific hole with cut-out fish on top of a bridge that was a nice and challenging obstacle. The main issue with the course was the condition of the turf and maintenance. I can’t imagine how difficult it was to maintain this course with all of the trees surrounding the holes. Our crew enjoyed this course and had a lovely evening but sadly, this venue closed and has become an event rental facility for a wedding company. It seems unlikely but I hope the owners of the property rehab the course as it would be a wonderful amenity for guests at any wedding.
