Words by the Pink Putter

When were were visiting Crosslake in July 2021, our friend Mike (owner of Whistling Wolf) told us about the possibility of a small mini golf course that was part of a local cabin resort. Sure enough, we found Towering Pines Resort located between the towns of Crosslake and Pequot Lakes Minnesota. It borders Clamshell Lake, part of the famous Whitefish Chain. Upon our arrival, we read a sign that said the mini golf was not open to the general public and was for resort guests only. We checked in at the front desk to inquire and offered to pay full price to play a round. Unfortunately, we were told that while we were not allowed to play the course, however we were given permission to photograph it.

This course was cute and obviously homemade. There were some fun obstacles and hole designs, although the VERY small cups (standard cups are 4.25″, these were just over 1.5″) made for challenging play. Additions like a hand-made spinner and little ceramic bear were thoughtful touches. We wish we could have played!
