Golf Gardens of Destin Putting Course – Miramar Beach, FL

Words by the Mr. Tee

Our first air travel during COVID after vaccination was to the Florida panhandle. We had Goofy Golf as our destination during the long-weekend trip but we knew there was a good chance we’d bump into numerous courses close to where we were staying in Destin.  Golf Gardens is one spot that we literally drove by on our day trip to Panama City Beach. It looked intriguing from afar so we stopped back to snap some photos.

This mini golf course is connected to a larger golf center. From what we could tell, the water hazards and a few other things were either under repair or not fully functioning. All of the holes seemed to be fairly long with a lot of smart sloping and gameplay. As you can see in the photos below, the turf has seen much better days. Visually, the contrast of the different types of turf is a nice touch but it’s clear that the transitions from one style of turf to the other will cause the ball to move quite a bit. We’d love to swing back here next time we’re in the area if they fix it up. The best version of this course would definitely line up with some of the better skill-focused putting courses we’ve played.

This sign caught our eye from US-98
Even though it was empty, love the size and scale of the water hazards

When you zoom in, you can see the turf has some significant issues
Number of divots and rips in the turf too
The size and scale coupled with the palm trees offers a ton of promise
