Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp Mini Golf – Wisconsin Dells, WI

The car drive from our home base in Minneapolis to Chicago always takes us past the Wisconsin Dells aka the Jersey Shore of the Midwest. On the western edge of The Dells, this Yogi Bear themed campground caught my attention each time we zipped by. The waterpark is clearly visible from Interstate 94 and the colorful theming made it alluring. The course didn’t pop up in our online searches in past trips through the area but I swear I caught a glimpse of a mini golf hole perched up on the hill at an odd angle from the road. My eyes were not failing me. I confirmed using the ever trusty google earth.

The satellite view looked promising and I banked the course in my memory for our eventual next trip to Chicago.

After playing City Mini Golf and a few others in Chicago on weekend trip scheduled for engagement photos, we jetted home early on a Sunday morning in August. Our early departure opened up the possibility of playing a round on the way back to Minnesota. Felt as good as time as any to check Yogi Bear campground miniature golf course off our list of places to play.

Rating

The appeal of this course had loomed large after confirming it actually existed. Our fellow mini golf fanatic Richard Gottfried had brought the above vintage mini golf postcard to our attention and I was even more eager to get to one of these cartoon character themed courses. This all probably built up my expectations too much. The reality was less exciting. The 18-hole Yogi Bear themed course has seen much much better days. If you’re not staying at the campground, it’s a bit of a hassle to get in. We had to wait behind guests checking in for nearly 15 minutes on a hot Summer day. The course itself has some solid theming and solid hole layout but the worn down turf and disheveled state of a few of the obstacles leaving me wanting for much more. It’s probably a solid Par, bordering on Birdie in peak condition but right now, I’d only recommend this course if you’re already staying at the campgrounds.

If you consider playing this course on its own, avoid arriving during check-in times.

Ready to go despite the extra hot temps
Boo Boo leads the way!
One of many cups that could be replaced
Like the pie but don’t love the worn turf and dirty for putting
License plate matches The Pink Putter’s initials
Not sure if the lighter splotches on the turf are indicative of removed obstacles
Even at a distance, the turf is quite worn
Missed the entrance to the door
Couldn’t resist
Makes for a nice photo opp
Always poised to pose
Boo Boo isn’t too keen on this broken obstacle that was set on the side of the playing area
Can’t go wrong with the cartoonish signage in our books
