Putt Pub – San Marcos, TX

When we took our January road trip down to the Austin area of Texas, we knew that Putt Pub was on our must-play list. We had seen images of it on social media and could tell it looked like a ton of fun. We’re happy to report, it was!

Rating

Colorful, clever and creative are the words I’d use to describe Putt Pub’s 18-hole course. An open-air bar surrounded by swings serves as the centerpiece of this putting party. The holes have a variety of fun obstacles and shoot throughs that when completed successfully take the ball on a journey. There are a lot of risk/reward shots as well as many tests of skill and a few shots of chance. Brightly colored turf is used everywhere, adding that extra visual pop. Appropriately themed beer kegs and beer cans are scattered as obstacles throughout the course, in addition to fun challenges like custom metal cutouts, winding ramps, various hills and jumps, a flaming loop, a giant plinko and an interactive foosball hole. Just outside the mini golf area are tons of lawn games, seating areas, a food truck and an additional bar. Details such as custom made putter light fixtures and door handles that can be seen everywhere from the restrooms to the outdoor bars all add an extra special touch. Putt Pub is located in the heart of a college town, which due to COVID was super quiet when we visited. But we know that once the pandemic is past us, Putt Pub will be a popular party destination.

Some of the obstacles weren’t the most durable, we’re curious to see how they hold up over time
