As we look back on 2020, we wanted to wrap the year with positives in what was an otherwise rough year. We added 50 new course reviews from across the US. Broadcasted 18 episodes of our new mini golf and Holey Moley talk Show, We’re Gonna Need A Bigger Windmill, that we created with our friend Pat from The Putting Penguin. Hosted our first tournament in September called The Miniest Mini Golf Open. Showed our friends from O-Street Mini Golf around our fave Twin Cities courses (see videos at the bottom). Created mini golf masks. And we started on a few new mini golf design and build projects that we’ll be sharing in 2021. We’re planning on making the new year a great one!
Much like last year where we pulled together a list of our top 10 new courses played for the first time in 2019, we compiled a short list of the special new places we safely played in the past year. In no particular order…
2020 Top 5 New Courses Played
Wildwedge Mini Golf & RV Park – Pequot Lakes, MN – A charming 18 hole course set on an RV Park Up North in Minnesota. This course is truly a gem but is tucked away, so make sure that if you’re in the Brainerd/Nisswa area, you seek it out.
Walsh Golf – Lacrosse, WI – 60s style mini golf course built by the Walsh family. Chocked full of charm and some challenging holes. Review coming 2021!
Riverside Amusement – Lacrosse, WI – Review coming 2021! In the vein of Putt-Putt style skill-based courses but there are some unique and distinct play and design elements that we had yet to see on a course.
Whistling Wolf Mini Golf – Cross Lake, MN – Review coming 2021! The cup placements and design elements make this 18-hole course set amongst the trees a course worth going out of your way to play.
Kendahl Miniature Golf – Cloquet, MN – 55-year-old classic 60s miniature golf course replete with windmills, loops, lighthouses, and more just outside of Duluth, MN. Review coming 2021!
A special addition to the “best new courses of 2020” would be the Holey Moley course in Santa Clarita, CA used for Season 2. While we didn’t get to play the full course, what we saw and experienced was special.
