Holey Moley (ABC) Season 2 Mini Golf Course Reviewed

From Mr. Tee’s perspective – September 2020

You’ve heard me and my Putting Penguin pal Pat chat about Holey Moley Season 2 on We’re Gonna Need A Bigger Windmill at length. We brought on many of the competitors from both seasons after all of the episodes and even the specials to talk for hours about this one-of-a-kind course. Pat and I did one last episode (view below) where we ranked the holes and discussed this wild and wacky miniature golf course. With all of this context, it should come as no surprise that we love everything about this course. We reviewed the version of the course we played on Season 1 so I thought I’d add a few final thoughts to review this 2nd iteration of our favorite mini golf show on broadcast television. Oh yeah, and if you’re wondering about the rating, I’ll give it an emphatic hole-in-one despite not playing all 17 holes.

Mr. Tee’s Ranking of the Holes

#1 – Dragon’s Breath
#2 – The Tomb of Nefer-Tee-Tee
#3 – Buns and Weiners
#4 – Putt the Plank
#5 – Gopher It
#6 – Putter Ducky
#7 – Double Dutch Courage
#8 – Uranus
#9 – Frankenputt

#10 – Slip N Putt
#11 – Hole #2
#12 – Water Hazard
#13 – Clowning Around
#14 – Diving Range
#15 – The Distractor
#16 – Polcano
#17 – Beaver Creek
#18 – Hole 19

Seeing The Pink Putter’s drawing of Sir Goph in the first of the two special episodes was the perfect cherry on the sundae to follow all of the competitive episodes of 2nd Season
The putting into the plinko part of Polcano looked like a blast
But that zip line looked terrifying

And those wipeouts were killer. Hope no one got hurt!

Which is why I’d prefer fire over water with Dragon’s Breath being my fave hole this year
Hard not to enjoy a dragon-filled hole that a friend peacefully conquered. (ABC/Christopher Willard)
Gopher It started with a scary view down from a mechanical goph
Those wack-a-mole style gophers popping up were the real highlight of this hole. (ABC/Christopher Willard)
Every time those lil gophs were poppin’ on an episode, I had a smile on my face
Plus, the putting was intriguing and fun to take in too
Biased in my enjoyment since I got to see pals under safe watch getting their mini golf moment
Fortunately, Aaron from O-Street didn’t have to play the well made but bland Hole 19 putting green
We were proud to see him shine in that sharp blue suit
Aaron had a solid dive but his putting under pressure on Diving Range was a sight to be seen
A familiar friend Slip N Putt was another welcome return to the course
Hard not to imagine what it was like thinking about putting after getting covered in slime
Hole #2 made the most appearances on Season 2 and we curiously watched on to see how putters would approach it.
Winced when competitors got slammed by the doors and when a precision putts misses by inches
Ultimately, they nailed it on all of the themes. Lots of excitement for the classic clown brought to the next level on Clowning Around. Upside down putts and pies to the face make us smile.
Seeing all of the new surprises on The Distractor, including Michael Winslow, was a big plus.
Shocked to watch how intense some of the “obstacles” were in The Sequel including the punishment for missing the hole on Frankenputt
Joe & Rob may have been unimpressed by The Tomb of Nefer-Tee-Tee but we’ve come to love a super long hole and the addition of sudden death putt off created lovely drama
Seeing the show finish big with a single winner raised the stakes and tied up the 2nd Season with a nice bow. #1 in my book! (ABC/Christopher Willard)
