Off the main strip of road in Lake George, U.S. 9, you’ll find a run of upstate lake town vacation spots and a myriad of miniature golf joints. Our initial reason for going to Lake George was to play one of the last remaining Sir Goony Golf courses and to tackle the legendary Around the World. We had less than 24 hours to take in all the mini golf we could handle and unfortunately, we ran out of time and energy to fully play all of the courses. We wanted to at least document as many courses as possible for future visits and for others, so we popped by a few spots in the morning on our way out of town.
An early arriving staff person at the Lake George Pirate’s Cove was kind enough to let us on the course to do a walkthrough video and to document this pirate-themed course, part of one of the largest national chains of mini golf courses. We’ve played or visited a number of Pirate’s Cove courses and they almost always provide above par putting experiences. From our viewpoint, the turf appears to be in good shape and lots of themed elements were utilized to make for a fun experience. No massive pirate ship but we’ll definitely give this course a whirl in our next stop through Lake George.
