In June of 2021, we were in the Chicagoland area to install one of our latest mini golf hole creations at the Elmhurst Art Museum. During our downtime, we played a number of the courses in the southern Chicago suburbs near the city of Elmhurst, including Lost Mountain Adventure Golf.
Rating
This 18-hole, adventure-style course was definitely above average and similar to a northern Chicago suburbs course, Congo River Golf. The entrance area and first few holes are surrounded by dramatic water features, and as you work your way into the course you navigate up over a waterfall and through three tiers of playing areas, making it a fully immersive experience. The gameplay was fun and challenging and the theming was reminiscent of Indiana Jones, complete with giant tusks, Easter Island heads, and a faux snake. To top it all off were two humorous photo-ops near the 18th hole where you could pose in a pair of oversized boots or inside a giant pot getting cooked over open flames (this one was in questionable taste).
Description from their website: “Along the way you’ll encounter plenty of exciting challenges: a mysterious Burial Ground, an imposing Stonehenge, the hidden Bogey River, a Leap of Faith bridge over troubled waters, the crooked Devil’s Elbow, and the Final Ascent up a steep double tier green.”
