Putt-Putt Fun Center – Clifton Heights, PA

Played August 13, 2021

Reviewed by Mr. Tee

We visited a number of the classic Putt-Putt Fun Centers or similarly styled courses across the US. Since there are so few locations left these days and even less within a reasonable driving distance from our home, we go out of our way to play those courses that are still open to the public to play. After seeing photos and videos from our pals at O-Street mini golf, we were determined to get to the Clifton Heights Putt-Putt Fun Center in the Philly suburbs on a future visit to Pennslyvania. Once we felt more comfortable with air travel in 2021, we had plans in place to play on a trip out east to see The Pink Putter’s family.

Rating

This and the complex in Burlington, North Carolina are easily in the best condition of the Putt-Putt-styled courses we’ve played to date. All four 18-hole courses are meticulously maintained and the carpet was lovingly replaced by the owner not too long before we visited. The signature orange aluminum rails and yellow steel obstacles appeared to have been painted recently as well. We chatted with the owner/operator, Rob, who happened to be on-site and was kind enough to indulge our curiosities about maintaining the course and even pointed out the location where there had been a 5th course on the premises. With the number of Putt-Putt complexes continuing to dwindle in number from hundreds to tens, the opportunity to play well-maintained courses is rare. If you’re in and around the Philly area, give this 50-year-old course a spin and see how difficult it is to achieve Putt-Putt Perfection.

Looks like an easier ace than it actually is
This massive steel tower and brown fencing were the only visuals that spoiled an otherwise great-looking Fun Center
On the other side of Course #4 are the overgrown remains of what was the 5th course. Still something beautiful about an overgrown course.
