Played with her extended family of 15 in various groups

My parents took my siblings and our families to Omaha for a small vacation and Jurassic Putt peeked everyone’s interest.

Rating

The interactiveness was great for all ages and the dinosaur element was exciting for the young kids.  We played the easier red course with the entire group of 15, broken into smaller groups and then 5 of us played the blue course after this.  Each of the 36 holes were unique and exciting to play, some incorporated friendly competition with your components and others were all skill.

Right away the course offered an option of a spinner that allowed for added fun to the game. These were scattered around the course but all the same. Sometimes you could move an opponent’s ball, sometimes you could get a 0 if you got a hole in one, sometimes you had to golf blind or with your hands behind your back. My kids favorite hole on the red course was the slide. You literally put down it, then went down it. There were steps if you didn’t want to slide. There was also a putter slide.

I think this pocketed hole was my favorite, though it was pretty simple looking. It was fun to watch so many people “almost” make it over and over again.

One of the interactive holes on the Red course was a foosball table.  Of course, this was the hole that had the most wear and tear.  Many of the little men were loose and if you pulled back on the handles too much the poles would come out of the walls.  Still, a lot of fun as your opponents could send you all the way to the top again.

Sometimes the dinosaurs were the obstacles. Because there were two courses side by side the tee-offs of each hole were marked with either a blue circle or a red circle. The holes had small little tables with numbers on them, but none were names or had descriptions. Sometimes people were a little lost when they overlapped. Besides over 40 really well-done dinosaur sculptures there was also a description of the dinosaur next to them on each hole. Most of them were rather serious looking, but this one made me laugh. Roundhouse kick.

The blue course had a couple of loops, but they were challenging with little reward for getting a ball up and over. Three of us got the loop to loop only to have the ball to stop in the corner. The next members of the group learned from our mistake and skipped the loops completely. The batting cage was the most untraditional hole of the blue course. I’ve done batting cage mini-golf holes before and I actually liked this one. The plastic bat and the need of a club to still complete the whole made it a good one.

Overall the course was mostly Par 2 and 3.  Having recently been to another course where everything was a 2 and it was mostly accurate for me, I was surprised at how many 4-6s I got.  I think the difficulty is much higher than other courses.  No one in my party did well at this slanted wall.  On the plinko to the right of this photo 3 of us got in the middle section which has a pipe that should lead right to the hole, but none of us got a hole in one.  It was either offside or hit the bricks.  In fact, I think I got a 5 on this.

Both the red and the blue course end with side-by-side half walls.  A little bit like skee ball, you could get a free 18 rounds if you got your ball in the red box.  The signage was a little hard to understand and I thought if you got the ball in the hole, which was on the top you got 50% off your next round.  The fact is that everyone gets 50% off the next round whether you get it in the hole or you get the chicken.

Cons
Many of the obstacles were extremely challenging without much reward
Course was fun for the able-bodied, but not great for older or those with mobility issues.
