Putt-Putt Fun Center at Kiddieland – Waco, TX

Visited and documented on January 8, 2021

Words by Mr. Tee

As we were looking for additional mini golf courses to play on our January 2021 Texas road trip, I searched around to see if there may be some Putt-Putt style courses. On several previous stops to the southern half of the US, we’ve sought out these once ubiquitous orange-railed and green felted courses as there aren’t any within an 8-hour drive of our home. I knew Texas was at one point dotted with Putt-Putt branded courses but I was only able to locate a few anywhere near the destinations on our road trip.

When I came across the Waco Putt-Putt course, I proposed that maybe it would be worth the 1.5-hour drive from Austin where we were staying. As our 2019 visit to the defunct Wilson Putt-Putt taught me, I should not fully trust the Putt-Putt Fun Center website as it has included some courses that are not operational. Not finding solid information on hours and days of operations, we opted to visit this course in Waco on our drive back north with our dog in tow knowing we would only get to snap a handful of photos. While I’m always happy to visit a Putt-Putt course, I’m glad we opted for a quick Drive-By documentation. These 2-3(?) courses have seen much better days but hopefully, we were seeing the course in rough shape during off-season and that the people of Waco find some joy putting and playing at Kiddieland. Sadly, we saw the news that Waco Lion’s Park ‘Kiddieland’ set to be torn down, rebuilt in $2 million project but maybe this means some money will be spent to rehab this course? If anyone has updates, send them our way.

We’re here!
But we couldn’t go in either way with our cute pup, Ruggles, in tow
