Hartland Golf & Arcade – Ship Bottom (Long Beach Island), NJ

Our tournament crew (from left to right): The Pink Putter, Mr. Tee, Biggy and Will

Played on August 18th & 21st, 2021

Reviewed by the Pink Putter

On our August 2021 family vacation to Long Beach Island on the Jersey Shore, we made sure to play every mini golf course on the Island. Hartland is well located on the Island’s main road, Long Beach Boulevard, thus we drove by it multiple times a day. We waited to play it until Wednesday, during their weekly tournament, where we met up with our friend David Biggy (best known for winning the coveted Golden Putter and plaid jacket on his episode of Holey Moley Season 3 and for the “Can You Beat Biggy” series in the local LBI newspaper, The Sandpaper). While we didn’t win, Mr. Tee placed 5th in the “Boys over 13” category and I place 4th in the “Girls over 13” category.

Rating

Hartland has a lot of heart. This classic mini golf course delights with its inventive holes that feature a large variety of risk/reward game play and skill shots. The course has lovely landscaping and small central water feature. We enjoyed the giant putter sign along the main road, the anchor obstacle on hole 2 and heart shaped hazard on hole 5, but wished that Hartland had just a few more fun obstacles and theming that were integrated into the game play. Hartland hosts a weekly tournament on Wednesday throughout the summer. As described from their website:

Summer Tournaments for July 6, 2022 at Hartland Golf and Arcade on Wednesday at 9:00am must sign in before 10AM, with trophies for the best scores and a chance for all with a door-prize drawing (over $200 in great prizes), just to sweeten the deal! After a round of golf, take the fun inside to the Arcade for some skee-ball or any of the other fun games.
