A summer jaunt “Up North” took us back to Whistling Wolf where we got to chatting mini golf with the course designer & owner Mike Stone. We told him that we were pretty certain that we had played all of the courses in the area during a road trip the previous year. He asked if we had been over to Towering Pines (which we had not at that point) or to a course he had heard about over at Trout Lake Camp. We had not been and naturally, we had to investigate to add new courses to our extensive list of courses we’ve played in Minnesota.

We drove over to and turned into a road for the camp. We stayed straight on the path and realized that several different camps were housed within the larger complex. At the end of the road, we discovered a 9-hole course that was part of a kids summer camp near what appeared to be the main lodge. The only person at the course when we pulled up was a kid playing a solo game of tetherball. They didn’t seem to mind me hopping on the course to snap some photos and to document the course. While the turf and some of the signage have seen better days, it’s still a nice little spot to practice your putting and a wonderful amenity if you’re staying at this lakeside camp.
