Walsh Golf Center Mini Golf – Lacrosse, WI

Played on September 2, 2020

Reviewed by Mr. Tee

Right before I played the fun Riverside Amusement Mini Golf, my first stop in Lacrosse took me to the Walsh Golf Center. The handful of photos I was able to track down online hinted at a course with traditional obstacles and features including a lighthouse. Information on the course was scarce but knowing there were a few courses in the area, I figured the 2.5-hour drive from Minneapolis would give me a day trip with multiple chances to play some fun mini golf. Lacrosse ended up surprising me in the best possible way!

Rating

When seeking out unique mini golf courses to play, we’re equally interested in those courses that are attempting new approaches to play and design and those classics that have lasted the test of time. Walsh Golf Center’s executive mini golf course definitely falls into the category of the latter. This course is filled with features that were common in the middle of the 20th century but it is clear they have been maintained well, regularly adjusted, or updated. Many of the holes have moving obstacles with a variety of levels of difficulty while all remaining quite fun. There are a few unique features including the borderless putt off areas and openings for ADA access that were smart and worked fairly well. The turf is getting close to the end of its useful life but plays consistently enough. The well-kept flower boxes surrounding the holes made for a nice touch. I’ll definitely plan on playing this course when I’m in the Lacrosse area again and highly recommend this lil spot for a fun time putting around.

  • Variety of sizes of rubber covered putters and mini golf balls
  • Facility includes 9 Holes of Golf, PGA Golf Shop, Driving Range, Practice Greens & Power Cart Rental
  • Holes contained golf club handled with a pool noodle on them to keep the ball from fully falling in the hole. This was a unique safety precaution in 2020 due to COVID
  • All of the holes had an opening in the area near the cup for ADA accessibility. This course was fully ADA accessible as far as we could tell
  • See scorecard below for the special rules regarding hazards and how the final clown hole plays
