Smiley’s Mini Haunts Mini Golf – Lenexa, KS

Played on April 26, 2019

Reviewed by the Pink Putter

This past spring, we spent some time in the Kansas City area while we were consulting on the first iteration of Art Course at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. And, as you can imagine, we spent all of our free time playing local mini golf. Earlier this week, Mr. Tee reviewed the super challenging Smiley’s Famous Golf course. For our second round at Smiley’s, we were thrilled to be joined by friends Will and Katie for a ghoulishly good game of mini golf.

Rating

Birdie – With signage, themed obstacles and cleverly named holes, Mini Haunts certainly commits to its Halloween theme. Upon first glance, this course appears to be pretty easy, with large, mostly flat putting greens. However, after just a few putts in, we all learned that Mini Haunts was more challenging than what meets the eye. Long fairways, angle play and narrow shoot throughs meant hitting powerful and accurate putts, which is not a simple feat. And as we got further into the course, we were met with double dog-legs, long hills and pipe play. While sometimes frustrating due to its difficulty, this is definitely a clean, well maintained course with a fun theme that I would play again in a heartbeat. And, much easier than its Famous Course counterpart.
