A History of Spring Lake Park Amusement / Sir Goony Golf – Part 9: Final Chapter & Living Archive

October 18, 2018

by Tom Loftus (aka Mr. Tee)

Our critique and documentation of courses have come from the perspective of being passionate fans of the experience of mini golf. An opportunity exists in the game to escape from reality and dive into a world of play we don’t regularly allow ourselves to sit in for too long. The purpose of my series on Goony Golf of Spring Lake Park is to encourage people to build imaginative holes and maintain those mini golf courses that stand out in the crowd. The price tag to build and maintain an extra large universe is certainly higher than most run of the mill courses but how awesome is it to plant yourself in a happy space of your community? We talked with many people on the closing day about their relationship to the course. The legacy of great courses lives on for generations and inspires creative activity.

This final post for the series is a includes odds and ends around the closure of the course, final residence of some of the obstacles, and will be a landing place for content shared with us.
