Putter’s Pride – Denver, CO

Played July 6, 2018

Reviewed by Mr. Tee

Our quick stop in Denver a week early in June allowed us to only play a handful of spots from the long list of mini golf courses we cobbled together before heading out west. Given that Boondocks, Adventure Golf, and Colorado Journey were all squarely above average courses, I made sure to take in an additional jaunt out from the mountain towns back to the metro area. Maybe there was something in the bright blue water in Denver that made all of the courses special? Looking online, Putter’s Pride seemed like the next best choice on the list. Photos I found online looked promising and the volume of three 18-hole courses added an extra level of excitement.

Rating

Par – Multiple courses at a single mini golf establishment is almost always a big plus. You’re given additional excuses to return regularly. Putter’s Pride trifecta offered numerous well-designed holes and paths to the cup. While no unifying theme was evident across the whole complex or individual courses, common tropes appeared in the form of dinosaurs and windmills. Pipes, sand traps, shoot through obstacles, and cleverly graded turf made for a classic course worthy of repeated visits. Heck, the $10 all-you-can-play option enticed me to take on all 54 holes on a hot late Summer morning. The course offered me lots of challenges but not all of them were positive. The turf and numerous playing areas require attention. Debris from surrounding trees, well worn putting surfaces, and damaged environments set the ball on unintended paths. A few repairs and better upkeep could easily take this course to the next level.

Not sure if the flags were a holdover from the 4th of July
