Defunct: Glow in One – Blaine, MN

Played on March 23, 2018

Reviewed by the Pink Putter

It was a long, cold winter which extended well into April. Towards the end of March we both had a Friday off, so with the lingering chilly weather we decided to finally check out Glow in One which is about a 25 minute drive straight north from our house.

Update – After a change of ownership in 2018 and remodel of the course in 2019, the course permanently closed during the Spring 2020 Pandemic.

Par – I’m usually not a huge fan of black light mini golf courses, unless they are really spectacular (think Two T’s or KISS). A lot of times I get dizzy, warm, or a little claustrophobic. But we arrived at Glow in One on a quiet Friday afternoon and sharing the course with only one other couple made me feel more calm and at ease. The course appeared to be handmade, evident by the clunky wood barriers, basic obstacles and plain decor. However, despite its simple appearance, Glow in One proved to have challenging and surprisingly fun game play with lots of skill shots that involved calculated angles and a handful of ramps. So much so that I would definitely return to practice and master the hole-in-one shots in hopes of getting my name up on the leaderboard.

In addition to skilled game play, some of the holes had a spinner option with fun prompts such as “dance to the song playing” or “subtract 1 from your score”. The spinner definitely adds an element of chance and whimsy to the overall experience. Other fun touches were the LED lit toilet in the restroom, Party Room with a bonus hole hidden in the back and the free lockers and glow bracelets for players.

If you live in the Twin Cities area and are looking for a solid indoor option that will challenge your putting skills, we definitely recommend Glow in One.
