Rating:

Par – This course majorly lacked personality, aside from its underlying themes of patriotism (as seen through banners and American flags). With no color or kitsch, it’s hard for me to get really excited about my experience. But despite its lackluster visual appeal, the Links’ standout quality was its wide variety of play. It had all the classic obstacles: rocks, faux sand traps (brown turf instead of real sand),  bridges, jumps, ponds, rivers and pipes. Even the terrain varied greatly from hole to hole. One had a valley between two big hills, another had a hole placed on the flat top of a small hill (think mini-volcano). Other holes had turf that ended with no barrier between ponds, challenging players to not hit the ball too hard past the hole. This course demanded skill (in addition to a little luck). It was a fun play, clean and very well-maintained, putting it on the higher end of a Par rating.
