Mountainview Adventure Center Mini Golf – Des Plaines, IL

The final review from my post-pandemic solo trip through mini golf in the Chicago suburbs. I found Mountainview in my searches online when looking for courses in the northern burbs and from what I could tell of the photos I found online, it looked worth a visit.

Rating

This is a solid mining-themed course with various nostalgic and environmental-themed obstacles throughout the 18 holes. The old mill clubhouse and water feature provide a nice setting and introduction to the vibe of the course. The little details including the detail in the metal fencing, all tie the place together. There is a good variety of holes that have you navigating jumps to avoid going into the water and provide a good challenge. Aside from the wide gaps in the bricking (this is one of those things that’s more noticeable in competitive play but common) is the condition of the turf when I visited. You can see in many of the photos below that the turf is quite worn and stained. If they replaced the turf, this could easily bump up a level in rating but nevertheless, it’s a solid course and worth your time if you’re nearby in the Chicago suburbs.

Nice lil sign
Fantastic looking clubhouse
Nice piece of custom metal work
Love that the rules sign has thematic elements accompanying it
Love authentic looking features that matches the overall course theme
Playing with a Chromax and giving an odd smile. Probably too old to be good at selfies.
Nice shaded area near the start of the course
Super high risk shot and probably not the best path to the cup on the left but jumping the water is always fun
Layout is fun but I would put the cup placement back a bit. Feel like the ball coming down the hill will be too fast to get it to stay in the cup.
Doing my best to capture the vibes in a selfie while playing solo
Not sure if the water comes in play on this hole but this is a true statement
Love a good rhyming sign

Like the hole signage with the layout of the hole
