Young Dance is a group that encourages youth in the Twin Cities community to build body and spirit through the art of dance. Their mission is to transform lives through movement. Over this March weekend, we had heard about a pop-up mini golf fundraising event, the “Build-Your-Own Miniature Golf Gala” that this group was doing at a local brewery, Lake Monster Brewing. We knew we had to go check it out!
The premise was that there was an open build from 1-4pm where members of the community were invited to come and construct holes from provided materials like cardboard, pieces of gutter, tubes, wood, pallets, nails, screws, tape, and more. Then, from 4-6pm was open play. We got there right around 4 to a wildly busy course. And since we had our dog along with us, we decided to not play, but to just visit and document the project. There was a suggested donation of $15/person to play, with all proceeds supporting Young Dance. While we didn’t play, I can say that this Alice in Wonderland inspired course brought joy and smiles to the many, many who participated. Congrats to Young Dance for a hugely successful event, we love seeing kids getting involved with mini golf!
