Revisiting Peter Pan Mini Golf (East Course) – Austin, TX

Played on January 1st and 4th, 2021

Reviewed by the Pink Putter

Back in 2013, Mr. Tee reviewed Peter Pan Mini Golf after playing it with some friends during his time at South by Southwest. But after visiting Austin and finally getting to play Peter Pan together in January 2021, we decided it was time for an updated review. We were fortunate to get to meet owners Julio and Maggie this time and they even let us bring our pup Ruggles onto the course for some photo and video. This mid-20th century gem is located south of Downtown near the Auditorium Shores Park and Barton Springs, it’s a course that fits nicely in the heart of the action in this creative town.

Rating

Peter Pan fits the bill of the golden period of mini golf and its classic style offers a glimpse in to the history of the game we love. Few courses from this time remain and despite being 55 years old, it is impeccably maintained. The obstacles all have all been repainted by a local artist which enhances the “Keep Austin Weird” vibe. Game play is classic and fun, with shoot-throughs and pipe play. Austin is a city filled with incredible music, art and food culture; and for us, mini golf is high on the list of highlights for Texas’s capital city.
