Waterfall National Miniature Golf – Cedar Rapids, IA

Played August 11, 2019

Review by Mr. Tee with a guest appearance by Comedian Nils Lindahl

After being surrounded all weekend at Grey Area with kickass bands, “thought water”, ample quantities of alcohol and fun-loving folks, my friend Nils and I headed back to Minneapolis from Iowa. The section of the drive on 380 from Iowa City to Cedar Rapids includes an exit for Wright Brother Boulevard. To the west is the Eastern Iowa Airport and to the east is the Airport National Public Golf Complex, home of Waterfall National Miniature Golf. I wanted to check it out so we popped by for a round of 18 holes.

Rating

Par – All in all, a solid course. Red brick. Blue water. Two grades of turf. A modest waterfall. The grading and the undulations create some moderately challenging putting. No complaints but nothing major stands out on the course. The combo of concerning signs was the only thing that truly piqued our curiosity. One states, “If someone falls in the pond please use life bouy and ladder” and the other says “Children 10 & under must be accompanied by an adult due to water hazards”.  What happened here? These signs raise numerous concerning questions about the history of kids falling in the bright blue water. I guess this adds a little danger to this quaint mini golf course but just be careful.
