Driving east of the Twin Cities on Highway 36 I could have sworn I saw the words mini golf on the side of a building. Rigorous online digging uncovered a non-descript rollerskating rink with a collection of 9 miniature golf holes. Little information was available which added to the intrigue. At some point, The Pink Putter got hired to draw caricatures at this business. Not impressed, we delayed our documentation of this course despite being it being one of the final long-standing mini golf courses we had yet to play in the Twin Cities metro area. Being a completist, I took this course on solo to mark it off the list and to take one for the team.
Update – Received confirmation that the rollerskating and mini golf permanently closed in the spring of 2020 during the pandemic. This lot will be transformed into senior living facilities.
Rating
Par – While by no means a mini golf destination, the incredibly low fee to putt makes it a solid place to practice. Not unlike a traditional Putt-Putt course, the focus of the course is on putting the ball, not on creative thematic obstacles or environments. The putting surfaces and cups have seen some better days but don’t dramatically impact the path of the ball. You can’t get much of anything for $1 these days but add that onto your fee for rollerskating and you’re good to play.
Pros
Super cheap ($1-2)
Solid railroad tie walls to play the ball off of
Cons
Turf has seen better days
Nothing exceptional to write home about
Nerdy Notes
- 9 Holes. No Par Listed
- No flags in holes. Metal putter. Random mini golf balls
- Pricing varies. $1 with roller skating. $2 without rollerskating
