Update – Through a few sources we have confirmed that this location permanently closed for good. Their Facebook page hasn’t been updated since fall of 2018 and a few other sources confirmed the permanent closure.
Drive By – The famed North Carolina based Putt-Putt corporation is one of the most recognizable names associated with miniature golf. In fact, on frequent occasions, we have found ourselves in conversations about mini golf where the other person exclaims, “Oh! You mean Putt-Putt?”.
In the late 80s, Putt-Putt dominated the world of putting with over 320 locations in over 5 countries. We’ve watched videos on YouTube from the late 80s and early 90s broadcast TV games featuring PPA association players competing for money. Today, there are less than 50 courses left in the US. Sadly, none of the scattered remains are located within 8 hours of our home. In stories and in putting together an archive of mini golf in our base of Minnesota, we found out that at one point there was a Putt-Putt in Bloomington, MN. No remanents of this course remain.
The Pink Putter’s artistic talents take us on road trips across the country. As we darted back from the east coast through the midwest, we perused options to give us a first-hand experience of Putt-Putt. With our fluffy puppy Ruggles in tow, we wouldn’t have the chance to play a round but took in the sights and sounds 3 orange and green classic courses near the border of Indiana and Ohio.
