The Miniest Open 2020

A Couple of Putts and Lilli Putt present…

The Miniest Mini Golf Open
September 18-20th, 2020

Recap

Year one of the first tournament we’ve ever organized was a blast and nailbiter. After two days of qualifying rounds by a bunch of fun people, we ended up with 9 competitors who had the top six scores due to a few ties. These ace putters were invited to the championship round on 9/20/20. A round of 50 by Alan Wilson was the best qualifying round. Seven of the top nine showed up on Sunday morning to compete for the money, prizes, and a chance to put on the wild yellow jacket. You can see the photos and videos of the finale, scores, competitors, and fun below. We’re planning on doing this again and will update acoupleofputts.com/open for future years

Rules

  1. No intentional chip shots to jump walls.
  2. If the ball goes off course into the water or out of bounds, the ball will be placed at either the last place it exited the course or the beginning of the hole with a one-stroke penalty added.
  3. If the ball goes into the rock traps, you must either play the ball where it lays or take a stroke penalty to place the ball 6″ from the point of entry into the rock trap.
  4. If the ball bounces back and past the starting yellow putt off area, the ball can be reset on the putting area by the competitor without a penalty stroke.
  5. For all tournament rounds, there is no stroke limit. You count your putts till you make it into the cup.
  6. The ball can be moved 6″ (or one putter head length) away from any obstacle or wall for relief as long as it is not in the rocks or water.
  7. All holes will be played with each person completing the hole before others in their group play.
  8. The ball can only advance to the hole through the use of the putter.
  9. If the math on your scorecard is not correct, a +1 stroke penalty is added to your score for the round.
  10. All rounds must be completed between course open of 12pm on Friday, September 18th, and 6 pm on Saturday, September 19th to be valid and eligible for the championship on Sunday, September 20th.
  11. Valid scorecards must be turned into the clubhouse immediately after finishing and include a contact phone number where we can reach you if you make it into the top 6 to compete again on Sunday, Sept. 20.
  12. 6 competitors with the lowest scores will compete for the championship on Sunday, September 20th. If there is a tie for the 6th best score, all of those competitors will compete for the championship.
  13. A Couple of Putts (Tom & Robin) will be contacting the top 6 scorers on Saturday, September 19th around 7 pm to confirm their availability to play for the championship on Sunday, September 20th. You must confirm you will be able to return for the championship round on Sunday, September 20th by 9 pm on 9/19/20.
  14. The championship round will start promptly at 9 am on Sunday, September 20th with the highest of the top 6 scores starting in the first group. The best (lowest) three scores will make up the 2nd group starting immediately afterward.
  15. In the case of ties in the championship round on 9/20/20, those competitors who tie will play in sudden death on hole 18 until one of the players gets a hole-in-one. Each competitor will get a chance to putt once in each round of the sudden death heads up match.
