Back in spring of 2022, Mr. Tee and I were in the Detroit area to play the then newly installed Cranbrook on the Green, a course that we had designed for the Cranbrook Art Museum in Bloomfield Hills, MI. The day after the opening events, we sought out a nearby indoor blacklight course, Putting Edge in Novi. Putting Edge is a chain with multiple locations throughout Canada and three US locations including Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando and Novi. This is the first time we’ve played any of their courses.
Rating
If you’ve read some of my previous reviews, you might know that indoor, black-light courses are not my favorite when it comes to mini golf. Often times I find them tacky, it’s hard to see and they sometimes give me a headache. Of the indoor “glow golf” courses we’ve played, I will say that Putting Edge was really well done. The 19 hole course was divided into multiple different themed rooms ranging from under the sea, to treasure, to medieval knights to a forest which kept things visually interesting. The decor was well done, as in everything was hand painted with lots and lots of texture and detail. The quality of this was better than most blacklight courses we’ve seen. The game play offered a nice variety of elevation changes and challenges such as bank shots, shoot throughs and narrow paths. Overall, this was a solid indoor course and a great option for winter or a rainy day.
