Mad Golf (Flashback Course) – Paris, France

Played June 14, 2023

Reviewed by Mr. Tee

We took our first trip to Paris, France together in June of 2023 after a whirlwind visit to the UK that included playing tons of different courses in the heart of London and then competing in the World Crazy Golf Championship. Sightseeing was the top priority for our visit to one of the most impressive cities in the world. That being said, we also did a quick search to see if there were any places to putt around Paris and we found a few options including one not far from where we were staying called Mad Golf. Fantastique!

Rating

The Mad Golf website describes the Flashback course as a “Step back in time to the 80s and 90s through crazy tracks for a unique immersive experience!” Given that the description came from an auto-translate, it sums it up well. This course is on trend with the Instagram-friendly courses popularized in London that we played earlier in our trip overseas. The gameplay in this course was more consistent and less frustrating than the other 9-hole course on the premises. It was fun revisiting pop culture from my childhood and funny to do it in a country thousands of miles from where I grew up. A few tweaks to a couple of the holes so that they play better and/or more consistent and this is a hole-in-one level course. It’s hard to not take photos in and around every hole. Definitely worth visiting if you’re in Paris.

Hard not to notice this place when walking by
Neon light points downstairs
Not sure what I was going for with this expression
Throw back video store with lots of repeat VHS titles
First half of the course. Lots of neon and bright lights
Hot wheels inspired hole where you can jump through the loops but the better path of the cup is to just lag the ball over the ledge which is slightly unsatisfying.
Pop-a-shot inspired hole with a theme we’ve seen before but well-executed
Well themed environment around this foosball inspired hole
Sadly, the gameplay and foosball characters didn’t play as well as we had hoped
Twister themed hole with amazing lighting
Putting with your hand on a color is super complicated
Retro video store stocked with only a handful of titles which feel perfect
Simple but smart hole with an incredible Tetris environment
Fairly well executed environment that helps ecentuate the pinball theme
DJ / turntable-inspired hole that included pumped-in music
Pipe from the tee box down the turntable arm doesn’t leave you with many great shots
Final hole is a somewhat challenging but simple hole inspired by Star Wars
On brand with a lot of current mini golf courses with text on the walls but quotes match the course’s nostalgia theme
French putters and balls
