America’s Action Territory Wild West Course – Kenosha, WI

Played June 2022 & 2023

Reviewed by Mr. Tee

I figured I’d finally get in my review of the Wild West course at America’s Action Territory since I’ll be playing it for the 3rd time this weekend as part of the 27th M.C. Mini Masters, I’ve already reviewed the Wisconsin Adventure course at the same location which is also part of the day-long marathon tournament across 3 locations and 6 courses. The Wild West is the 2nd course of the day so it feels fitting to review it 2nd.

Rating

The theming on the Wild West course is much more substantial with building facades and a big water wheel hole. This course also has a good variety of gameplay but is considerably more challenging which is a good thing for a property that has multiple similar styled courses. The historical tournament scores on the two neighboring courses illuminate the different challenge levels. The difficulty kicks off with the first hole which I’m usually not a fan of for the public. I think the public responds better to courses where you ease a bit more into the difficult. The only small gripes I have are the gameplay on a few of the holes like the water tower where the ball doesn’t get through the shoot-through environment consistently and the lack of shaded areas away from the sun. It’s a solid American mini golf course that isn’t too wacky. Excited to play it this weekend!

Headed west this time
PInk Putter teeing up at the sheriff’s office themed hole
Stick em up!
Tricky hole with a dropoff right behind the cup
Much more theming than the neighboring course
Love the simple and themed hole signs to help you navigate the two intersecting courses
Subtle breaks and hazards throughout your adventure
Tricky hole where you can opt to go through the pipe (not advised) or find other ways around
But the majority of the challenge is just keeping your ball on track and away from the downward slopes
Only of the few places to get out of the rain and sun. 2022 M.C. Mini Masters was a soggy one
Holes like this look easier than they are. The high road to the cup is better but requires a good touch
Great accessibility points on many of the holes
Pink Putter got in a rough spot and had to put from up top on a rock
Cool shoot-through concept but sadly, it rarely resulted in the ball making it onto the green
At the M.C. Mini Masters, we’re required to play some holes in a wacky way. You can see Matt Roalstad using the hockey stick here
There is a pipe path you can ride to the cup. Just avoid using a bouncy ball.
Tom Schweiss was that close to the cup. Great putting family that played the M.C. Mini Masters every year.

Comments

Classic mini golf vibes
Nice variety of gameplay
More challenging and a bit harder than of the Wisconsin Adventure Course
Theming is much stronger and well done
Lack of shaded areas on this course can make this challenging on super hot days
A few of the holes are a bit more frustrating/fussy than you would expect

Nerdy Notes

  • 18 holes. Par 50.
  • Rubber-covered putters and a variety of colored balls
  • 1 of 3 courses including the Wisconsin Adventure (easiest) and Lost Falls (hardest of the 3 course). Wisconsin Adventure is considered the easiest
  • Lots of nearby lodging
  • 20 minutes north of Six Flags Great America
  • Facilities include an arcade, food/concessions, go-karts, bumper boats, bumper cars, laser tag, batting cages, and more
