I usually take an evening flight back to Minneapolis the day after participating in the Master of Mini Golf in Myrtle Beach. Each year, I’ve aimed to seek out any of the courses I haven’t already played in a city jam packed with optoins. Part of the reason I’m eager to get to every course is that some courses are defunct and likely to be demolished and others are just barely holding on. Plus, we like to try to visit and/or play any course possible in our adventures.
After the 2022 Masters, I had a long list of courses either near the airport or south of the airport that I had not visited that I was curious to check out. In my online search for courses, Sea Mist had popped up many times but I had not seen any traces of it in my prior visits. With some extra time to spare, I put 14th Ave S & Yaupon in the map on my mobile device and headed to seek out this resort course.
When I arrived, the course was defunct and had not been maintained for some time. This was some of the only info I could find about the course: “As of 3:00 PM on Wednesday, December 4, 2019, the sale of the Sea Mist property to A&S of MB, LLC has been finalized. Any employees of Sea Mist are terminated from employment with Sea Mist, Inc. on December 4, 2019”
Other information I found mentions the Sea Mist about referred to it as a mid-priced hotel with 20 buildings, a water park, and other amenities. Check out the Review of the resort and this video of the course from 2016. This is what it looked like when I visited back in 2022.
