Group Therapy Pub & Playground – Greenville, SC

Played July 10, 2023

On my swing through the south for competitive events in North Carolina and Georgia, I made a few pit stops in South Carolina to finally play the course the Pink Putter designed, Sparkle City Mini Putt, and after seeing tons of amazing photos online, Group Therapy’s mini golf course.

Rating

It felt fitting that I first found out about Group Therapy’s indoor miniature golf course on Instagram because each of the 18 holes on the course doubles as a photo backdrop. It’s common to go to a mini golf course where there are 2-3 immersive characters or environments that stand out and work well for photo ops but it’s rare where every hole is a massive set piece with tons of big and small details. Group Therapy brands itself as an “adult playground” and it’s the perfect description. The 18 mini golf holes have fun paths to the cup that align well with each of the different hole themes. My only small complaint is that a few holes don’t play as well as you would anticipate and hope. A number of the shoot-through obstacles don’t consistently reward a good shot and in many cases, make getting a hole-in-one far more difficult than it should be. That being said, a majority of the holes are incredibly satisfying and take the ball on wild adventures which is the hallmark of our favorite courses. All of the non-mini golf environments are equally designed and set up for the maximum amount of fun. Curling, axe throwing, massive arcade games, yard games, massive private booths, karaoke, a huge bar, and solid food options make this a destination for a really fun day or night. I’ll let the pictures do the talking as it was impossible to leave here without taking a million photos.
