During our January 2021 pandemic road trip down to Austin, TX, we tried to play as much mini golf as we possibly could. One of our stops was Austin’s Park n’ Pizza, a large family entertainment complex that is home to bowling, an arcade, a small amusement park, bumper boats, rock climbing, go-karts, batting cages, laser tag and two 18-hole mini golf courses. This review covers Course 1 (the red course). Look for a review by Mr. Tee of Course 2 in the future.
Rating
This large complex has two courses adorned with lots of fun, photographic features like castles, giraffes, a gingerbread house and cascading water features. However, none of the decorations are directly integrated into the putting area. Instead, objects such as concrete rocks and wooden posts serve as game play obstacles, leaving something to be desired. This course has also shown a lot of wear, with noticeable tears in the turf. On the plus side, we went on a chilly day and there was barely anyone else out there, so we had the entire course to ourselves. This is a great option for a big group with kids or a birthday party, as there is so many activities on site, but Austin’s is definitely not our first mini golf choice in the Austin area.
