Haunted Trails Mini Golf – Joliet, IL

Words by Mr. Tee

On our Chicagoland area trip to install our Cross-Section Castle mini golf hole we designed and built for the Elmhurst Art Museum’s Par Excellence Redux Front 9, we added a pitstop an hour south of the windy city to pick up a trailer with Pink Putter’s Barter Boat project. In mapping out the drive, we realized that we could pass through the city of Joliet. We had already played the similar spooky-themed Burbank Haunted Trails that was close to downtown Chicago and I was keen to pop by the Joliet location as well.

Our hopes of playing were dashed by a rainy day but not knowing the next time I’d be through Joliet, I jumped out and documented both courses for posterity while getting drenched. These courses combine numerous eerie features and obstacles that are nearly identical to the location in Burbank. It’s clear both locations are the handiwork of the Castle Golf company. Definitely looks like fun and look forward to getting back to play in the future.

Two fun courses that intersect

Course 1 – Sport Challenge
Not sure why this course is called Sport Challenge as the haunted theme seems equally present
Blood red water
Spooky old house on the Sport Challenge
Yes, this is the Spooky course
Starts with a classic haunted house
Bricks, green turf and a few skeletons hanging out
The castle is a signature of the company that likely built this course, Castle Golf
Never get tired of castles on courses
Classic creature from the black lagoon that can be found at the Burbank location as well
Both courses finish at the big skull. Two different options to finish your game strong.
Indoor place space and arcade adjacent to the courses
Numerous options for your entertainment pleasure
Solid sign
