During our summer trip out East to PA/NJ in August of 2021, we put together quite an agenda of mini golf courses we wanted to play. After a full Friday morning of putting, we checked Putt Putt in Clifton Heights, PA (review coming soon!) off of the list. When we were done with our four rounds, Putt Putt’s owner Rob gave us a tip about a new mini golf course being built in the area at a place called Delco Steaks. We put the name into our GPS and were off. After about a 20 minute drive, we arrive at Delco Steaks in Broomall, only to find out that we were at their original location, not the new one with the mini golf course. Another quick Google search and some backtracking led us to the under-construction location of Delco Steaks at a building formerly known as Charlie’s Hamburgers.
Some Google Map searches brought up views of the building pre-construction. Here are some before views of the mini golf course, which appears to have been defunct for quite some time and was serving as a lot for Christmas Tree sales.
Update 9/20/22 – Course opened and you can see some photos and videos of the course in this news piece
According to an article on Delco.Today written in March 2021, Delco Steak’s second location at the former Charlie’s Hamburgers site in Folsom will also include “Delco Land Mini Golf” behind the new steak shop. From the article:
Delco Steaks, owned by Nick Reynolds and John McKenzie, with Steve Reynolds as COO, decided to lease the now-vacant Charlie Hamburgers building. All three are from Marple Newtown.
“Charlie’s has always been an iconic landmark in Delco and its former building was just sitting there so we had to have it. Who doesn’t like cheesesteaks, milkshakes and mini golf?” Steve Reynolds stated.
Delco Steaks opened last July. With its focus on cheesesteaks, steaks, cheeseburgers and milkshakes, it quickly had a large following.
An article from Cedar Lodge Westport written by Catherine Ford states:
McKenzie and the Reynolds say they stay up for not solely increasing the areas of Delco Steaks, but in addition opening the “Delco Land Mini Golf”, an 18-hole miniature golf course, straight behind their new location in Ridley. The opening of the golf course additionally has a goal date in April. Delco Steaks is in search of native highschool artwork lecturers keen to contain their college students in creating scenes for Delco Land.
“We’re envisioning that each metropolis has a mural painted by their native college,” stated Steve Reynolds. “Delco Steaks will provide the plywood and donate $250 to the ministry for different supplies.”
While they did not hit their goal date of opening in April, we could definitely see that a lot of work was done to the original building and that some progress has been made on the course. We look forward to revisiting Delco Land Mini Golf the next time we’re in the area!
