In their early stages of planning, Nick and Austin, the guys behind Big Mini Putt Club, had reached out to us to tell us about their idea for a 9 hole, indoor mini golf course and bar in the heart of Wicker Park in Chicago. As the course was coming along, we even submitted to their “Final Hole Design Contest” where our design won honorable mention.
On the weekend we installed our newest mini golf design/build called Cross-Section Castle for Par Excellence Redux at the Elmhurst Art Museum just outside of Chicago, we took the time to head into the city to play a round at Big Mini Putt Club.
Rating
Big Mini Putt Club is a bar and mini golf experience with a cool vibe. When you walk in, you’re greeted by a golf cart photo-op just in front of the check-in desk. The walls are covered in hand painted murals, faux box hedges, faux neon signs and unique mini golf ball art. The bar and mini bar have a menu full of fun, golf-themed cocktails such as the “Peachy Palmer”, the “Happy Place Transfusion” and “Foreplay”. The 9-hole course was designed and built by its owners, Austin and Nick. The holes are made from simple materials like wood and turf but are designed with interesting, challenging and sometimes frustrating game play elements. There is a last bonus hole to collect balls that offers a chance to win a free drink, free drink and glass or a free game of mini golf.
