While the real pros were playing on the Pineapple Beach course of the Hawaiian Village complex as part of the first day of the 2019 USPMGA (United States Pro Mini Golf Association) Masters, I quietly watched on. After surveying shots by some of the most skilled putters on a challenging course, I was overcome with FOMO (fear of missing out). I popped on to the adjacent empty course and started to work on my putting for a future competitions.
Rating
Unlike the other Hawaiian Village course used for tournaments, these 18 holes were not remodeled back in 2018. The weathered red bricks play much better than the turfed walls that could lead you easily off of the course. The tropical-themed vibe and surfside village look provide continuity with the other courses owned by the Detweiler family in Myrtle Beach, Aloha & Hawaiian Rumble. Fun use of color, large water features, and a number of off-course thematic elements make this another strong putting option in Myrtle Beach. If I wasn’t practicing or taking part in the Masters, I’d probably opt for these 18 holes over the Pineapple Beach side.
