Almost every winter since I was a kid, I’ve made the journey down to South Florida for the holidays to visit with my grandparents. My mom also lives in Florida now, so in 2019, Mr. Tee accompanied me on the annual trip. Unfortunately, moments after stepping off the plane, I was hit with a fever and the flu. While this put a damper on much of the fun activities we had planned for our trip, we did manage to visit a few mini golf courses, including some holiday themed pop-up courses in the area.
The first of these pop-up courses was located in downtown West Palm Beach, next to their giant sand tree and some other holiday activities, all branded as Holiday Paradise at Sandiland. The mini golf course is described as Sandi’s Surf Shack featuring Glow Fore It! Mini Golf. The putting greens themselves were not super impressive, but for a temporary course, someone did put some decent effort into the overall theming. Surfboards, an old VW bus and thatched tiki roofs all add to the surf shack ambience. When we visited, the course was closed (it’s Glow Golf, so the idea is to play at night), so we didn’t get a chance to putt, but for $2.50/person, this would have been a good activity to do with kids. I just checked in with my mom and she confirmed that the course is not there as of December 2020 (most likely due to COVID).
