During our trip to Anaheim and Disneyland for Mr. Tee’s niece’s 5th birthday, we made sure to squeeze in as much mini golf as we could. After two days at the parks, the whole family needed a Disney break, so Mr. Tee’s two brothers and sister-in-law joined us for a round at Camelot Golfland. Since I played and reviewed Golfland in Mesa a year before, I was extra curious to see how Golfland in Anaheim would compare.
Rating
Hole-in-One – As I suspected, Golfland in Anaheim held up to the same top notch standards as the one in Mesa. In fact, much of the hole design and game play was nearly identical, however the props, obstacles and landscaping made this course stand out and feel unique from its Southwest sibling. This mini golf mecca offers four 18-hole courses in addition to an arcade, bumper boats, water slides, lazer tag, bumper cars, go-karts and a pizza parlor. We played one of two “The Castles of The World” courses, which features a pagoda, castle and Spanish forts with shooting water cannons. There’s also the jungle themed course with a lush, tropical safari feel as well as Surf’s Up, an oceanic and nautical themed course, which we managed to walk through and snap some photos of.
The holes themselves are larger than average, perhaps even larger than the holes in Mesa. With long fairways and wide putting areas, a barrage of towering cypress and palm trees, medieval inspired flags, colorful lights, bright blue waterways, giant pagodas, castles, windmills, etc. the atmosphere creates a noticeable shift in scale, making you as the player feel quite small. Game play includes an oversized skeeball shot and giant volcano, bridges, waterways, multi-tiered pipe play, angles and hills. Like its sibling course in Mesa, this course also utilized the “hole-in-one” cups for skill shots which is a metal guard around the cup so if you make it in the right slot you’re guaranteed a one. Camelot Golfland is an above average, over the top, classic miniature golf course that is a must play for anyone who loves the game.
