Busby’s East Glow In The Dark Mini Golf – Los Angeles, CA

Played on April 11, 2019

The Putt When Ready Miniature Golf Club opted for one last late-night adventure just short of 24 hours after losing on the biggest stage for mini golf, Holey Moley. Following several rousing rounds at Hole 19, we opted for Dim Sum dinner across Beverly Boulevard. A joyful spirit was upon the group and the mini golf queen, Robin Ventura, got a message from her Round 1 Holey Moley opponent and talented actor, Evan Michael, who lives in LA. Evan and his wife were nearby, so joined us as we finished up our meal. The reunion of new friends brought about an extra level of excitement. Sensing the energy in the room, Evan offered to show us his secret/favorite haunt for putting, Busby’s East. Even though the five of us were running on almost zero sleep, we couldn’t resist. After Randy Rice and I putted across traffic on Beverly Boulevard (you had to be there), we jumped in our rental car to the last stop of our Holey Moley journey.

Rating

Birdie – Elvis, Iron Man, Luke Skywalker and an oversized fluorescent cow. We’ve bumped across a handful of these unique and eclectically charming DIY mini golf courses and they never get old. We’re big fans of course designs with a wacky sensibility and a distinct personality. Throw in a windmill, bridge, a guitar and a toilet to add to the wildly goofy aesthetic. All of this sits in a hidden room in the back of a dive bar with other gaming activities. And the best part? It’s totally free! But that means you can’t complain about how challenging and sometimes impossible the game play is. Our wonderful experience at Busby’s was heightened by sharing it with our favorite fellow mini golfers. This place will always have a special place in our hearts and we hope to return to play again with Randy, Evan, Robin, Pat, Rebecca, and other friends.
